Wilmot’s Dialogue Magazine: Celebrating Progress in a New Era
“Moving forward in a new era” is the theme of the latest issue of Dialogue magazine. It’s a testament to progress made since the National Cancer Institute in March 2025 awarded Wilmot Cancer Institute a special designation placing Wilmot among the most elite cancer centers in the U.S.
The first major impact of NCI designation has been recruitment of top research talent. The magazine includes short profiles of four faculty members who recently joined the University of Rochester and Wilmot—and would not have come here without the cache and resources that NCI designation holds. They bring a wealth of experience, from basic science to clinical research. Ryan Fields, MD; Tanya Mayadas, PhD: David McConkey, PhD; and Lori Medeiros, MD; say they are thrilled about the university’s collaborative atmosphere and eager to offer fresh ideas in Wilmot’s new era.
Other features in this edition of Dialogue 2025 include:
- An inspirational story about a Spencerport man, Art Sullivan (on the cover), who is thriving thanks to a new treatment for brain cancer and Wilmot’s neuro-oncology leader (page 8);
- A generous gift to Wilmot from University of Rochester Board Chair Emeritus Robert Goergen and his wife, Pam (page 14);
- And a recording-breaking fundraising year for Wilmot Warrior Weekend (page 15)
