Learning CPR is quick and easy using the HeartSaver Hub.

The HeartSaver Hub, the region’s only mobile hands-only CPR training station, will be on site and a team of trainers will offer instruction for adults and children.

Each year, more than 350,000 people experience out-of-hospital cardiac arrests, according to the AHA. That’s almost 1,000 every day.

Recent data shows that in Monroe and Livingston counties, only 32 percent of people who suffered cardiac arrest at home received CPR prior to arrival of an ambulance. That rate is below the national target of 45 percent.

When someone suffers sudden cardiac arrest, their chance of survival doubles when someone performs CPR .

Following Buffalo Bills player Damar Hamlin’s on-field cardiac arrest, UR Medicine and the Heart Association brought the mobile training station to the Finger Lakes and launched a campaign to boost CPR skills.

Over the past two years, more than 12,000 people in the Rochester area have used the teaching station to learn CPR, and thousands of others have been trained as well..

The Heartsaver Hub includes a brief video training followed by a practice session and a 30-second test. It has a built-in, rubber torso, or manikin, to guide proper hand placement as well as compression rate and depth. It offers real-time feedback for users to strengthen technique.

In addition to the mobile training kiosk, CPR Go-Bags are available to borrow through the Monroe County Library System. The kit provides self-guided training to practice and perfect CPR skills whenever and wherever is convenient. Many families and groups have used the Go-Bags to learn this valuable skill together.
