Jul. 8, 2025

Dr. Linda Rasubala recently completed the University of Rochester’s Senior Leader Education and Development (SLED) Program, designed for UR-School of Medicine and Dentistry faculty members at the associate professor or professor level who hold senior leadership positions across clinical, educational, research, and community missions.

As the first EIOH faculty member to have been accepted and completed the SLED program, Dr. Rasubala said completing the program has been both a privilege and a profoundly meaningful journey.

“It’s been an incredible two years of growth, learning, and leadership development,” she said. “Every session, discussion, and reflection challenged me to think more deeply, lead more effectively, and contribute more meaningfully to the future of academic medicine and dentistry.”

Established in 2014, the SLED program aims to develop senior leaders in academic medicine through evidence-based, collaborative learning and reflective practice, and to guide participants in being transformational leaders.  Senior leaders in academic health centers must meet complex and emerging challenges with innovative approaches to shape the future of healthcare, medical and dental education, and research.

Designed to foster practical knowledge from recognized theoretical models and best practices, SLED curriculum addresses setting direction and vision, leading by developing others, maintaining organizational efficiency and through organizational development.

Co-designing and implementing dental faculty development curriculum was the focus of Dr. Rasubala’s project. She and Dr. Sean McLaren, EIOH’s chief Quality, Compliance and Safety officer and medical director, are co-principal investigators for a $3.5 million Health and Resources Services Administration grant, National Dental Training Center for Primary Interdisciplinary Care Educators.

“I am deeply appreciative and very grateful for the mentorship and direction from Dr. Eli Eliav, Dr. Janine Shapiro, and Dr. Judy Baumhauer,” Dr. Rasubala added. “Their insight and commitment to excellence have helped empower me to lead with purpose, teach with intention, and grow with humility.”
