Drawn to Eastman’s strong emphasis on community dentistry and comprehensive clinical training, Dr. Megha Sheth (GPR ’25, GenDen ‘24, MS ‘24) came to Rochester to refine her skills and deepen her impact. What she found was far more than technical growth – her time at EIOH shaped her into a confident, compassionate clinician ready to serve a wide range of medically complex patients with empathy and excellence.

Q: Where are you from?
A: India

Q: Why did you choose Eastman?
A: For its strong emphasis on community dentistry, diverse patient population, and comprehensive clinical training. The program's commitment to evidence-based practice and mentorship aligns with my goal of refining my skills in providing high-quality, patient-centered care.

Q: Best memory of your EIOH residency?
A: Treating patients with special needs in the operating room. Many of these patients had complex medical histories or severe dental anxiety, making traditional in-office treatment challenging.

Q: In what way did your Eastman experience allow you to grow?
A: Professionally, I gained advanced clinical skills in managing complex cases. I also improved my ability to handle emergencies, enhance efficiency in treatment planning, and integrate evidence-based care into my practice.

Personally, the experience taught me resilience, empathy, and adaptability. Working in a fast-paced environment with patients from different backgrounds strengthened my communication skills and reinforced my commitment to patient-centered care. The mentorship and teamwork at Eastman also helped me develop confidence in my decision-making and leadership abilities, shaping me into a well-rounded clinician.

Q: Favorite thing about Eastman?
A: The collaborative learning environment and the opportunity to work with a diverse patient population.

Q: Any presentations, awards?
A: Won first prize for poster presentation on “pain relief and satisfaction with non-opioid analgesics after dental surgery” at AADOCR.

Q: What are your next steps after graduation?
A: Working as an Associate Dentist in Seattle, Washington.

Q: Any advice to a new resident coming to Eastman?
A: Be proactive and embrace every learning opportunity. The residency is fast-paced, but the more you engage, ask questions, and seek mentorship, the more you’ll grow. And don’t forget to enjoy the journey—residency is challenging, but it’s also an incredible experience that will shape you into a stronger clinician.

Q: Three important things in life?
A: Fitness, Relations, Traveling

Q: Describe yourself in 3 words.
A: Dedicated, compassionate, overthinker

Q: When you have a bad day, what do you do?
A: I go for the ultimate combo: online shopping (because why not add to my “emotional support cart”), binge-watching TV (preferably something funny or mindless), and ordering comfort food—because nothing says “I’m fine” like a pizza and a series marathon!

Q: Any papers published while you were at EIOH?
